What is Article schema?

Answer

Article schema is a Schema.org type for editorial content. It includes properties for author, publisher, datePublished, dateModified and headline. Properly-attributed Article schema is a major AEO signal because answer engines weight authorship and freshness when deciding which sources to cite. Article schema without author and date attribution is functionally worthless for AEO.

Required properties

headline (the page title), author (Person or Organization), publisher (Organization with logo), datePublished, dateModified, mainEntityOfPage. Skipping author and dates strips out the trust signals AI engines rely on.

Subtypes to consider

BlogPosting for blog content, NewsArticle for news content, TechArticle for technical documentation. The base Article type works for most editorial content.

How to ship it

Add a JSON-LD script tag to every editorial page with full author and date attribution. Include publisher.logo as a Schema.org ImageObject. Validate with Google's Rich Results Test. Spacemen Digital ships Article schema as part of every editorial AEO engagement.
