What is LocalBusiness schema?

LocalBusiness is a Schema.org type for businesses with a physical location. It includes properties for name, address (PostalAddress), telephone, openingHours, geo (latitude/longitude), priceRange, paymentAccepted, areaServed and review aggregates. LocalBusiness schema is critical for local SEO and for AI agents answering location-based queries.

When to use it

Any business with a customer-facing physical location: retail stores, restaurants, clinics, law firms with offices, agencies with physical offices, gyms, salons. Pure online businesses should use Organization instead.

Specialized subtypes

Schema.org has dozens of LocalBusiness subtypes: Restaurant, Dentist, AutoRepair, Hotel, RealEstateAgent, Plumber and many more. Use the most specific subtype that applies to get the richest entity recognition.

Critical properties
