Schema Types

What is Person schema?

Answer

Person schema is a Schema.org type for an individual person. It includes properties for name, image, jobTitle, worksFor (Organization), sameAs (links to LinkedIn, X, GitHub and other profiles), description, alumniOf and knowsAbout. Person schema is the foundation for E-E-A-T and is increasingly important for AI citation of author-attributed content.

Why it matters

AI engines weight author credentials when citing editorial content. A page with a Person schema author entity that has strong sameAs links to authoritative profiles (LinkedIn, Wikipedia, academic publications) is more likely to be cited than the same content with no author entity.

Critical properties

name, image, jobTitle, worksFor (Organization with @id), sameAs (array of authoritative URLs), description, knowsAbout (list of topics they are authoritative on). Optional but powerful: alumniOf (education), award, hasOccupation.

Where to use it

Author bylines on editorial content (referenced from Article schema). Founder bios on About pages. Team member pages. Speaker pages. Anywhere a named individual is meaningful to the content.
